"We will continue to strongly disinflation in 2026"

Minister Şimşek attended the finance summit titled "Global and Turkish Economy Outlook" held at the Istanbul Financial Center. Speaking at the summit, which addressed topics related to Turkey and the global economy, Şimşek said, "The global economic situation is actually not that dire. In other words, perceptions and expectations are relatively positive. This is good news. It will increase our growth potential. As you can see, there are structural threats and problems we face globally. But if we collaborate with the right framework and model for Turkey, and make accurate assessments and diagnoses, we can solve them together."
"There are hot conflicts in every corner of the world"Şimşek, stating that global tensions and conflicts are witnessed daily in many countries, said, "There are scenes we, as humanity, do not desire. And there are hot conflicts in every corner of the world. So, how does Turkey position itself here? First, we have a strong defense industry. We are currently talking about nearly 1,400 ongoing projects, employing over 100,000 people, with an R&D value exceeding $100 billion. And this is only just beginning to be reflected in Türkiye's exports and production."
"Today, Türkiye is a country heading towards 10 billion dollars in exports."Minister Şimşek, noting that Türkiye's defense industry exports were negligible 25 years ago, said, "Today, Turkey is on track to reach $10 billion in exports. As of September, annualized exports exceeded $8.4 billion. Turkey used to be one of the world's largest importers, but figures in the 1990s showed it. Currently, its exports are rapidly approaching the top ten globally. Last year, we ranked 11th. We will likely enter the top 10 in the global defense industry export league this year or next. Spain recently approved the purchase of HÜRJETs from Türkiye for over $3 billion. When you look at it from this perspective, we are only at the beginning of this journey. In other words, we are in a world where 1,400 products are gradually being developed, and defense industry spending is rapidly increasing. Therefore, yes, we have challenges in some sectors. I'm not saying they don't exist, and we are not indifferent to them."
"There is no reason to be pessimistic"Minister Şimşek said, "Financing conditions will improve further in the coming months because inflation will fall. As our hand gradually strengthens in these matters next year, our hand will also strengthen in simplifying and easing these macroprudential measures. Therefore, there is no reason to be pessimistic. I am looking at it within the framework of the program we are implementing. We believe we will enter a period in which we will grow stronger and move faster. The conditions for this are in place. We will continue to implement the program supporting the global economic climate with determination."
Minister Şimşek, noting that strong disinflation will continue in 2026, said, "Fiscal policy, monetary policy, income policy, and structural policies will be shaped accordingly. Therefore, this is the picture we see. We have significant opportunities ahead of us. Our real sector will naturally seize these opportunities. Our financial sector will support them. And we will, of course, provide the necessary support in entrepreneurship and finance, working as a team."
